In 1934, the year Walther Bensemann died, the memorial tournament was organized by Albert Mayer, Dr. Ivo Schricker (FIFA Secretary General), Dori Kürschner (Trainer Grashoppers Zürich) and Georges Singer (President AS Strasbourg). In 1937 it took place for the first time. It has been held 32 times so far. From 5th to 7th September, games between the six participating teams will take place on the DFB-Campus in Frankfurt. It is played in two groups of thress teams each. The tournament will be played according to FIFA football rules. All games in the tournament are played over 2 x 25 minutes with a 10-minute half-time break. In the KO phase, if there is a tie after regulation time, there is a penalty shoot-out without overtime
